Alison works for The National Trust at Coughton Court in Warwickshire, her life is turned upside down when she discovers a letter that was meant to be sent to William Shakespeare. The letter leads her to believe that he has written a damning play about King James 1 and that he has hidden it somewhere in the West Country. She quits her job and sets about using the information in the hope that it will lead her to the manuscript. However, it isn’t long before she doesn’t know for sure, who she can and cannot trust on her quest for the play.
